    Nana Barwuah Founder/Chief Executive Officer Nana Barwuah is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Afrovest. A student of Politics at Princeton University, Nana brings a global perspective shaped by experience across finance, policy, and social innovation. Her work bridges investment strategy with community development, drawing on a foundation built at leading institutions and civic organizations. Nana’s professional background includes roles at the Federal Reserve Board, where she served as a Strategy and Financial Analysis Summer Analyst, and Macquarie Group, where she worked in Infrastructure Private Equity evaluating portfolio performance and strategic growth opportunities. She is an alumna of the Girls Who Invest program and has completed fellowships with the Civics Leaders Fellowship in Washington, D.C., and Project Destined in real estate investing. Beyond finance, Nana has served on the board of Girl Code Africa, where she helped expand digital literacy programs for young women across West Africa in partnership with organizations such as Google and Amazon. She has also contributed to international non-profits, including Sierra Leone Rising and Hospitals for Humanity, helping raise funds and awareness for education and healthcare initiatives. Nana’s leadership reflects a deep commitment to equity, global development, and sustainable investment.     Frequently asked questions FAQ Who is eligible for the Afrovest conference? Afrovest is open to African entrepreneurs who meet the following criteria: Must be 18 years of age or older Operate a legally registered business within an African country Demonstrate consistent revenue and an active customer base Be beyond the idea stage, with a functioning product or service in the market Open to businesses at early or growth funding stages There is no restriction based on industry — we welcome a diverse range of ventures that are driving impact across the continent. How does the Afrovest application and selection process work? Applications for our programs open annually in the fall. To apply, click on the Apply menu at the top of the page. After submitting your application, selected candidates will be invited to send in financial document for verification and participate in a virtual interview to further assess their business model, impact, and readiness for the conference. Finalists will then be chosen based on their performance during the interview, the strength of their application, and alignment with Afrovest’s mission to empower high-potential African entrepreneurs. Successful applicants will be notified in early 2026 and provided with next steps for onboarding into the program and conference. The next application cycle runs from October 1, 2025 to January 31, 2026. Where will the 2026 Afrovest Conference be held? The 2026 Afrovest Conference is scheduled to take place in Accra, Ghana on May 30th. Can I partner with Afrovest? Absolutely!     Emily Hove Board Emily Hove is an A.B. candidate in Public and International Affairs at Princeton University, where she focuses on global economic policy, governance, and systemic risk. She currently serves as Chief of Staff at Series and was a previous Business Analyst at McKinsey & Company, advising organizations on strategic growth and operational transformation. Emily was also a United Nations Fellow with experience at UN-Habitat, supporting international initiatives that address urban sustainability and equity. At Princeton, she has conducted research at the Princeton Institute for International and Regional Studies and contributed to investment analysis for Business Today. As a first-generation and low-income scholar, she was a member of the Scholars Institute Fellows Program, Women in Economics and Policy, and Kappa Alpha Theta.     Kwadwo Boateng Finance & Outreach Kwadwo Boateng is a Finance and Economics student at Washington University in St. Louis’s Olin Business School. He is a Gates Scholar and QuestBridge Scholar recognized for his academic excellence and leadership. Kwadwo is an incoming 2026 Investment Banking Summer Analyst at Guggenheim Securities. He has previously served as a Summer Analyst at the Skandalaris Center for Interdisciplinary Innovation and Entrepreneurship, where he worked on venture analysis and early-stage business development. With a strong foundation in financial modeling, strategy, and market research, Kwadwo is passionate about leveraging finance as a tool for innovation and inclusive growth.
